Clinical and Professional Supervision

Helen Rowland BA (hons) DipSw PTSTA (P) UKCP regd is an experienced supervisor who has provided clinical supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists of all modalities for 12 years as well as external professional supervision for those in the caring professions. She offers both one-to-one supervision and group supervision. In addition she encourages all practitioners to have supervision with more than one supervisor and therefore offers one-off or occasional supervision sessions for those in regular supervision with other supervisors.

Clinical supervision

Helen’s primary training is in Transactional Analysis but she has a particular interest in working relationally and working with different conceptualisations of therapeutic relating. Her preferred supervisory frame is to find ways of understanding and working with unconscious process, parallel process and the relational dynamic between therapist and client. However, she will also work collaboratively to employ and integrate the modality of the supervisee into the psychodynamic aspect of the work.

Transactional analysis supervision

Helen is a PTSTA and an experienced supervisor of TA practitioners at both CTA and trainee level. She has experience in offering external supervision on the CTA Written Exam and is an experienced CTA examiner. Although she has a leaning towards relational TA and the therapeutic relationship, she is able to offer clinical supervision in all aspects of transactional analysis theory. Helen is currently the UKATA Written Exam Coordinator for the CTA written exam and sits on the UKATA Exams Committee. She is also a member of the editorial board of the Transactional Analysis Journal (TAJ) and had her first article published in the TAJ in the October 2016 edition.

External supervision

Helen’s experience as a social worker both in a local authority and a hospital setting allows her to work as an external supervisor with a level of informed knowledge about the caring professions.

If you are interested in occasional supervision, regular one-to-one supervision, or joining a monthly supervision group, please contact Helen at
